Form, Fire, Function: Indian River Clay Takes over Raw Space this Friday

Every March, the artists of Indian River Clay bring their best work out of the studio and onto the gallery floor.

Form + Fire is back for its fourth year, this time at Raw Space Gallery, and 2026 promises to be the strongest yet, with 60 artists and more than 80 pieces spanning functional pottery to full sculptural experimentation — the only rule being that clay has to be the primary material. Local artists from Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin Counties are joined this year by guest artists from 12 states.

This year's juror is Patrick Dragon, whose work sits in the White House Collection of American Crafts and the Walt Disney World Corporate Collection, among others. He developed his signature technique himself: painting clay on clay, blending realism and abstraction into surfaces that feel almost geological.

He'll be at the opening reception on March 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Raw Space, 1795 Old Dixie Highway, and the work will be for sale.

The show runs through March 15. After that, a virtual gallery takes over on their website through May 16, so you can keep browsing long after the doors close.
