Literary Season Is Upon Us

If you've been meaning to get more literary in Vero, start marking your calendar now. The Laura Riding Jackson Foundation just released a sneak peek at its coming season, one of its most exciting ones yet, complete with a downtown poetry cookout, a full-day publishing bootcamp, and a book festival unveiling a brand new local anthology, plus a growing lineup of programming for kids and teens all year.
Nov. 7: Local Author Book Festival at Vero Beach Book Center. Food trucks, authors, and the debut of Wisdom & Wonder, the Foundation's new intergenerational writing collection.
Dec. 12: From Manuscript to Marketplace, a full-day publishing bootcamp at the Writing Center.
April 3: The 16th Annual Poetry & BBQ moves downtown to the Heritage Center after years at the Historic Home. Community asked, they listened.
Monthly through the school year: Kids Write Outside (ages 3-11), Sunday Scribe Tribe (12-16), and The Writing Life, a free members' series alternating in-person and Zoom.
The Historic House is expanding hours too, aiming for two weekday afternoons plus a monthly Sunday, November through April, if enough docents sign up. The Foundation also needs gardeners and a WordPress volunteer. Reach Sara Wilson at swilson@lrjf.org or 772-569-6718.
