We have so many beautiful parks, but few realize how many of these special places exist because of the Indian River Land Trust (IRLT).
One of our standout trails is the Toni Robinson Waterfront Trail in Wabasso—a one-mile loop that offers a quiet, scenic escape just north of Vero Beach.
This trail is a blend of Florida scrub, shaded oak hammocks, a boardwalk winding through dense mangroves, and a dock extending over the Indian River Lagoon. It’s a perfect walk for cooler weather, offering enough variety that every turn reveals something new: the rustling of palm fronds, the calls of ospreys overhead, or the shimmer of water beneath the dock. The trail is family-friendly, dog-friendly (on leash), and open to both walkers and cyclists, making it easy to fit into any day outdoors.
What makes Toni Robinson Waterfront Trail especially meaningful is its connection to local conservation history. Toni Robinson, a founding board member of IRLT, played a crucial role in protecting this land and many other natural areas across the county. Without efforts like hers, much of what you see on this trail would likely have been lost to development.
