Vero Minute Exclusive: Win a Night Out on Us at the McAlpin!

Before Eddie Murphy, Ray Romano and Kevin James were household names, they were working the room at Richie Minervini's comedy club on Long Island. This Saturday, Nov. 7, Minervini himself takes the stage just down the road at Indian River State College's McAlpin Theater. His East Side Comedy Club in Huntington helped launch a generation of stand-ups, and he has since turned up in The King of Queens and Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

Two seats to Saturday's show, on the house.

Indian River State College has set aside 20 pairs of free tickets just for Vero Minute readers, and they go to the first 20 who sign up here.

Winners will be notified by email and tickets will be available for pickup at the box office.

He and Tom Briscoe of the clean-comedy series Dry Bar Comedy open the McAlpin Theater's season with Dad Jokes. Minervini has been at this for more than four decades, picked up the title "Godfather of Long Island Comedy" along the way and, early on, spent a year as a driver for the legendary Jackie Mason, which may be the best comedy school there is.

And if Saturday turns out to be your kind of night, get on the McAlpin's mailing list so the rest of the season doesn't slip past you.

Just across campus, the freshly renovated Hallstrom Planetarium is playing Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in lasers on Nov. 13 and 14.
