The Vero Beach Museum of Art’s Second Saturday program returns this weekend with spectacular day that shows exactly what it means to raise families in a culture-rich town.
On Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Museum hosts its annual Children’s Art Festival — a free, all-ages immersion in art-making, performance, and gallery time designed with families at the center.

Second Saturday is always free and open to the public, and this edition brings the museum to life for young artists and their grown-ups. VBMA teaching artists will lead hands-on projects inspired by American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection, so families move naturally between the studios and the galleries, seeing how the ideas on the walls can spark new work at the tables.
Live performances by local youth groups, and food trucks outside mean you can truly make a day of it.
What makes the Children’s Art Festival stand out is the way it treats children as real museum-goers. It’s not your typical stanchioned-off corner for one Saturday afternoon.
Families take over the entire campus. A five-year-old immersed in paint, a middle-schooler claiming a favorite sculpture, a grandparent lingering before American masterworks; all sharing the same experience.
