America turns 250 on Saturday, and Vero Beach is celebrating in style with three days of parades, patriotic tributes, ocean swims, fireworks over the lagoon, and plenty of live music.
These are just a few of the great things happening, and there's so much more.
July 2 & 3 – Stars & Service at Riverside Theatre
This Thursday and Friday, Riverside Theatre turns its campus into a living thank‑you to those who’ve worn the uniform to make our freedom possible. Grab an All-American burger or hot dog, chips, and an ice cream novelty. After dinner, head into The Comedy Zone where veteran comedians Josh Novey and Matt Broome take the mic with stories that are as honest as they are hilarious. Whether you served yourself, love someone who did, or simply want to spend time in a place that honors the meaning behind the fireworks, Riverside’s campus is the place to be.
The City and County are also hosting a Community Time Capsule Ceremony at 10am at the Heritage Center, where every municipality in Indian River County will gather Thursday to seal a capsule that won't be opened until 2076.

The Day Of: Fourth of July Festivities
Kicking it off with anything other than Swim to the Wreck would be sacrilege. Originally a tribute to Mike Blatus, a Vero native and environmental activist who spent years battling to protect the shallow coral reefs from beach sand pumping, his friends began planting the flag on the Breconshire in his memory, and what began as a small tribute has become the defining Vero Beach tradition, where people unite in spirit to swim, paddle, and float out to meet the flag. From there the day unfolds across the whole city: the Pioneers to Paradise Parade marches through downtown at 10 am joined by an antique car display at the Old Vero Train Station. By 4 pm Riverside Park is fully alive with food trucks, bounce houses, vendors, and a spectacular fireworks display over the Indian River Lagoon at 9 pm.
Shuttle service runs from Holy Cross Catholic Church and Beachland Elementary School to Riverside Park from 6–10pm.
