Your Guide to Halloween Weekend in Vero

With Halloween landing on a Saturday this year, the costumes come out Friday night and stay on through Saturday afternoon. Here's where to go.
Main Street Vero Beach brings Downtown Friday back for the season on October 30 with Monster Mash on Main, a free Halloween street party on 14th Avenue from 6 to 9 p.m. with live music, food trucks, and local vendors. The street closes for setup at 4 p.m., so plan your parking accordingly. Across town that same evening, Indian River County hosts its annual Trunk or Treat at the IG Center (1590 9th St. SW) from 6 to 8 p.m., also free.
On Halloween morning, the City of Vero Beach holds its 66th annual Halloween Costume and Car Parade. Line-up starts at 9:30 a.m. in the Vero Beach Woman's Club parking lot (1534 21st St.), and the parade steps off at 10 a.m., heading east on 21st Street and up 14th Avenue to the Vero Beach Community Center. Every costumed child gets a turn on stage and a free goody bag (ages 0 to 17), and prizes go to the best costumes and best-decorated cars. Admission is free.
For something more pastoral, Audrey's Feed & Tack (870 66th Ave. SW) hosts Falloween on the Farm on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m., with trunk-or-treating, pony rides, face painting, and yard games. It's free as well.
The City of Vero Beach parade has run for more than six decades, so if you only make it to one event, make it that one.
