The Vero Beach Museum of Art's annual gala sells out almost as quickly as tickets go live, and January 30's From Sea to Shining Sea proved why. Over 400 guests turned up for an evening celebrating America's 250th birthday, in conjunction with the museum's American Made exhibition.
The night opened outdoors with East Coast oysters, West Coast wines, and regional specialties while the John Simon Band played selections from the Great American Songbook. Following remarks from Gala Chair Hollis Forbes and VBMA Executive Director Brady Roberts, the dinner remained true to the Americana theme going without veering into kitsch.
Guests got first access to American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection—250 years of American art through work by the country's defining artists.
The gala funds VBMA's educational programming across Indian River County. Wednesday's sold-out Fashion Meets Art event with Isaac Mizrahi furthers this mission, supporting Community Access partnerships for seniors with cognitive and physical challenges as well as teens and young adults on the autism spectrum.
