Gallery 14's summer show is here! Titled Coastal Currents, the show begins this Thursday, with the opening First Friday Gallery Stroll reception this Friday, June 5, 5 to 8 p.m.
Sarah Eden Houglum's paintings carry the imprint of everywhere she's lived: Hawaii, California, and now Vero Beach, each place absorbed and translated into imagery.
Sandy Bachmann arrives with a different background: 23 years in graphic design, then a degree in art education, and a sculpting and ceramics practice that keeps returning to coastal wildlife.
Alongside the featured guests, the show draws on Gallery 14's eight artist-owners: Lila Blakeslee, Barbara du Pont, Mary Ann Hall, Barbara Landry, Jessica Leto, Deborah Morrell Polackwich, Dorothy Napp Schindel, and Evan Schwarze, working across watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, mixed media, assemblage, collage, photography, digital art, sculpture, art glass, ceramic, and jewelry.
Represented artists and select pieces by Viola Pace Knudsen and Carol Staub round out the exhibition.
Coastal Currents runs June 4 through September 4, with First Friday receptions continuing July 3, August 7, and September 4, all from 5 to 8 p.m. Summer hours are Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the gallery closed in August and September except for First Friday events and by appointment.
Gallery 14 is at 1911 14th Avenue in Vero Beach's Downtown Historic Arts District. More at gallery14verobeach.com.
