Calling All Kids: Riverside Theatre's Fall Classes and Auditions Now Open

2 min read

If you want your kids to trade screen time for stage presence this season, Riverside Theatre is rolling out the ultimate roadmap.

From toddlers taking their first creative steps right on up to pre-teens building original characters, the theatre's education programs give young performers the tools to grow and have fun doing it.

Led by Jenni Norton, the upcoming six-week classes kick off this Wednesday, October 14, offering age-specific sessions designed to build confidence, spark imagination, and strengthen storytelling skills.

But the main draw for aspiring young actors is what comes next: auditions for Riverside's spring production of Newsies JR. open on November 1.

For families wondering what all the buzz is about, Newsies JR. is an officially adapted, high-energy 60-minute version of the hit Broadway musical. Inspired by the real-life 1899 newsboys strike in New York City, the story follows street-smart kids going toe-to-toe with powerful newspaper publishers like Joseph Pulitzer, rallying together under charismatic leaders like Jack Kelly to make their voices heard. Packed with powerhouse ensemble numbers and big attitude, it gives young performers a massive stage to showcase teamwork, grit, and heart.

Whether your child is just discovering theatre for the first time or already dreaming of the spotlight, here is everything you need to know to get them involved:
