Wheels and Keels Free and Open to the Public this Saturday

This Saturday, The Moorings Yacht and Country Club opens its gates to the 16th Annual Wheels and Keels Antique & Exotic Car & Boat Show where collector cars are fanned across the golf course, with yachts at the docks, food trucks, and an awards ceremony.

No ticket required to walk in from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

If you'd like to attend the dinner and live auction the night before, tickets are $275 and can be purchased here.

Gavin Rutuolo, George O'Malley, and Vincent DeTurris dreamed it up as a concours-style show to raise money for local nonprofits. "Concours" has its roots in the Concours d'Elegance, a17th century French tradition, where the aristocracy paraded horse-drawn carriages through public parks to be judged on elegance and refinement.

In 2009 they launched with fewer than 50 cars, four trailered boats and a single beneficiary: the Youth Sailing Foundation.

Sixteen years later, the Foundation has distributed more than $500,000 across the Treasure Coast to organizations including Youth Sailing Foundation, Vero Beach Rowing, The Arc's oyster reef project and more. The Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce has become a recurring fixture of Wheels and Keels' efforts. Last October, they hosted the museum's season-opening event with proceeds this year supporting Trident House Charities, a waterfront retreat for special operations personnel and their families.
