VBMA's A-List Lecture Lineup Goes on Sale

Tickets for the Vero Beach Museum of Art's 45th International Lecture Series go on sale Thursday, and the lineup would make even a Manhattan cultural calendar jealous.

The best-known name on the bill is Pico Iyer, the best-selling author and travel writer whose byline has run in The New York Times, Harper's and The New York Review of Books. He has spent decades explaining Japan to the rest of the world, and on February 1 he'll explain it to Vero.

He's joined by two leading scholars. Noriko Murai, an art history professor at Sophia University in Tokyo, opens the series on November 30. Andreas Marks, curator of Japanese and Korean art at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and director of its Clark Center of Japanese Art, follows on January 11.

The series is tied to Hokusai, Hiroshige, Hasui: Japanese Landscapes in Print, an exhibition organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, which makes its U.S. debut at VBMA on November 21. Every talk is on a Monday at 4:30 p.m. and is followed by a reception in the museum's atrium.

A full-series seat in Holmes Great Hall costs $300 for members and $360 for nonmembers. Simulcast seats, or streaming from home, cost $200 for members and $240 for nonmembers.
