Cast members on the first day of rehearsal (December15). In the center is Ava Gurley, a presenting sponsor with her husband Bill Gurley, alongside Paul and Joanne Bourdeau. These remarkable actors go from first meeting to opening night in just three and a half weeks!

The whole cast and two incredibly talented actors are turning Riverside Theatre's stage into a hilarious, perfectly-timed "crime scene" beginning January 9.

In A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, one charming social climber and one very busy victim share the spotlight in this show that is as fast-paced as it is funny.

Jake Levy stars as Monty Navarro, a polite nobody who works a boring desk job until he discovers a shocking family secret: he’s ninth in line to inherit an Earldom. Instead of waiting for nature to take its course, Monty decides to speed things up. Levy, who has starred in national tours of Wicked and Anastasia, plays Monty with the perfect mix of an innocent smile and a killer instinct.

Standing in his way is Dan DeLuca, who takes on one of the hardest jobs in musical theatre. DeLuca plays every single member of the D'Ysquith family—all eight of the relatives standing between Monty and his title. He has to switch between eight different eccentric characters with costume changes that happen in seconds, not minutes. DeLuca is no stranger to big roles, having originated the lead role of Jack Kelly in the first national tour of Disney’s Newsies.

Overseeing all this beautiful chaos is director Hunter Foster. As a Tony-nominated actor himself (famous for Urinetown and Little Shop of Horrors), Foster knows exactly how to make sure the comedy hits its mark without losing the heart of the story.

Want Backstage Access with the Actors? Book Before January 8

If you've ever wondered how an actor manages to die eight times in one night or how a backstage crew handles dozens of lightning-fast costume changes, Riverside Theatre has a class for you.

Backstage Access is a unique program designed for those who like to be "insiders." Part lecture, part seminar, and part open discussion, these classes give you a deep dive into how a professional production actually comes together. You’ll learn about the history of the show, meet guest artists, and explore the "business" side of the theatre. For this production, Education Director Kevin Quillinan will lead a deep dive into the writers, the history of the show, and the mechanics of "farce"—the specific type of over-the-top comedy that makes Gentleman's Guide so much fun.
