Don't Miss Mark Schumman This Week at the ELC

You may know the Environmental Learning Center for its guided tours through the Indian River Lagoon and environmental programming that bring thousands of students and visitors to its 64-acre lagoon-island campus each year.

What you might not know is that the ELC also maintains a strong roster of rotating art exhibitions showcasing local, regional, and international artists. This week, artist Mark Schumann is hosting two artist talks tied to his current exhibition, both free and open to the public.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, Feburary 17) at 4 PM, Schumann presents a nature travel photography talk exploring the encounters behind his "Wild and Beautiful" exhibition, currently on view through the end of the month.

On Wednesday at 10:30 AM, Schumann returns for a book talk on Homeless in a Land of Plenty, his five-year documentation of America's homelessness crisis. The Source's Food Truck will be on site from 10 AM–1 PM, raising money to support programs like the dignity bus and their culinary training program.

More information on these two events can be found here.

Later in the month, the ELC will host outdoor movie nights for the whole family on Friday, February 27 (Finding Nemo) and Saturday, February 28 (Moana). Gates open 3 PM for touch tank, games, food trucks. Films at sundown. People who RSVP will be entered to win a $50 ELC gift certificate. More information here.
